Detailed Solution

Changing Party allegiance from the Party on which a person got elected (to a legislative body) to a different Party was generally done by MPs and MLAs.
After the government has been formed and they have joined the legislative body, MPs (Member of Parliament) and MLAs (Member of Legislative) switch their party allegiance from the Party from which they were chosen to the respective legislative body to another one. The average term for this process is “dal-Badal”, or defection. The worst thing about it is that it led to unstable governments. When the members pull back their support from the Party forming the government for whatever reasons, the Party often loses the majority and becomes no-confidence.
