Historians have divided Indian history into three periods: the ancient, mediaeval, and modern periods. The archaic period was the time 2500 BC to 1750 BC when the Indus civilisation existed, also known as the Harappan civilisation. After that mediaeval period came when the kings and kingdoms were founded; in this period, significant changes were seen. Like India, many of the different dynasties and kingdoms and foreigners were seen and last and third was the modern period, which started when the advent of foreign traders began.
