Detailed Solution

Chinese Accordion book was folded and stitched at the side. From 594 onwards, the Chinese used hand printing technology which entailed wooden carving blocks to the required design; the carved blocks were then inked and rubbed against the paper manually to transfer the texts or images from the blocks to the paper or cloth. Thus, China was the birthplace of the earliest type of print technology. But the earliest papers used by the Chinese for printing were fragile and porous, rendering them unusable for printing on both sides. So, to bind the pages as books, the long sheet of printed paper or scrolls was folded at appropriate places and stitched at the side. This was known as the accordion book.
