Detailed Solution

Chintz is a cloth with small and colourful flowery designs. It derives its name from the Hindi word "chintz", which means "a cloth with print". It was famous for its extraordinary design, delicate texture, and relative cheapness in the 18th century. The Queen of England also used it. However, the flourishing chintz demand declined at the end of the 18th century in England.
For this reason, England's government passed the Calico Act. According to the Calico Act, the use of printed cloth (chintz) in England was banned. It came as a result of the protest of English weavers.
