Detailed Solution

The above statement is True.
The weavers petitioned the Company government regarding their condition of starvation in the 18th century. The petitioners were weavers who had earlier received advances from the East India Company for cloth production. However, as the cotton textiles from Britain were imported to India, the traditional cotton producers were thrown out of employment. They complained that they had been pursuing the occupation for generations and knew nothing else to earn a livelihood. Due to the decline of weavers, "aurangs" were also abolished. Aurang is a Persian word that means a workshop or a place where goods are collected before the sale. The weavers urged the Company to provide them with orders of cloth to earn a livelihood.
