Detailed Solution

Banjaras travelled long distances, searching for good pastures and selling ploughs and cattle to villagers. The Banjara community is one of the most popular pastoral communities in India. The name 'Banjara' is derived from two words, 'Vanaja', meaning to trade, and 'Jara', meaning to travel, thus denoting travelling traders. True to their name, they were reputed as excellent travelling traders and were crucial for distributing essential items like salt throughout the villages of India. They could be found in villages across several Indian states, like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. They moved from place to place, seeking pastures and conducting trade alongside them.
