The total movement was suddenly summoned off on the eleventh Feb 1922 by Gandhiji following the Chauri-Chaura incident. On the fifth of February of 1922, the protest became violent once protesters set fire to a police officer, burning twenty-two police officers alive. Several prime leaders were stunned by this call taken by Gandhiji. As a result, Gandhi was detained on March 10, 1922.
