Detailed Solution

The above statement is True.
The Awadh peasant movement was against talukdars and landlords who demanded from peasants exorbitantly high rents and a variety of other cesses. Peasants in Awadh were headed by Baba Ramchandra, a sanyasi who had previously worked as an enslaved labourer in Fiji. The campaign was against talukdars and landowners who sought excessively high rents and other cesses from peasants. Peasants were compelled to work for free on their landlords' farms. They had no tenure security as tenants, as they were evicted on a frequent basis, preventing them from acquiring ownership of the rented land. The peasant movement advocated lower taxes, the elimination of begars(forced unpaid labour), and a social boycott of unjust landlords.
