Detailed Solution

The above statement is True.
The Indian handicrafts were mostly damaged by British rule and its policies. India's traditional handicraft industry was globally well-known until the early 18th century. When the British arrived in India, they put duties on handcrafted exports to put an end to the practice. The rivalry between products made by machines was also fierce. Due to the Free Trade policy, Indian handicrafts suffered during the British era. The import of products from India into England was subject to high taxes. Due to declining profits and oppressive laws (artisans in Bengal under the Company's administration were paid meagre pay and required to sell their wares at low rates), many artisans gave up their jobs, relocated to the countryside, and turned to agriculture.
