About 1500 years ago, the Iron Pillar in Mehrauli, Delhi, was constructed. The height of the iron pillar is 7.21 metres (23 feet 8 inches), and its width is 16 inches (41 centimetres). Most likely, Chandragupta II of the Gupta dynasty built it. It is renowned for the metals used in its construction, having a rust-resistant nature. The pillar, which weighs more than 6 tonnes, is believed to have been built somewhere else, maybe outside the Udayagiri Caves, and transported to its current place by Anangpal Tomar in the eleventh century.
