Detailed Solution

The given statement is false.
Tamil is not the language of the majority community of Sri Lanka. It is spoken by only about 18 per cent of the total people in the country who form the Tamilian minority. The Sinhala ethnic group constitutes the majority of Sri Lanka's population. They held a majority in the government and controlled it. This caused the government to embrace majoritarian policies, including approving a law declaring Sinhala as the national tongue of Sri Lanka in 1956. This led to massive protests throughout the country. Later, Tamilian was also accepted as the country's official language, along with the Sinhalese language.
The correct statement would be Tamil is not the language of the majority community of Sri Lanka.
