Apartheid was a system of racial discrimination unique to South Africa and introduced by white people. It discriminated against the black natives of South Africa and segregated them. There were other races as well, which were called coloured people, but the black people faced the worst of this racial discrimination. All the public places, hospitals, schools, hotels, theatres, residential areas, bus stops, public toilets, parks, offices, etc., were separated between blacks and whites, and blacks were not allowed to enter whites’ areas. They could do work in whites’ areas only if they had a permit. The whites treated all the non-white people as inferior and denied them basic human rights like the right to vote.
