They organised groups to look into malpractices carried out at ration shops and other places. Recently, India has witnessed a huge increase in these consumer groups. As a result of these groups, the government took major steps toward consumer protection and enacted the law. This law has set up a three-tier quasi-judiciary system in the country. It includes the district consumer court, the state consumer court, and the national consumer court.
