Murshidabad was one of the weekly markets. It was where the artisans, peasants, and ordinary people came to sell their products and buy essential items. However, with the political and economic changes in the Bengal administration, these weekly markets were drastically affected. With the imposition of tax and British pressure, the artisans and farmers sold their products to the company at lower prices. Thus it made it difficult for them to meet the end. Moreover, they were hit by the feminine of 1770, which worsened the situation. Due to these reasons, the natives were forced to leave weekly markets and, gradually, Bengal.
