The above statement is True. The Imperial Forest School was the first forestry school established in the British Empire. Once Dietrich Brandis was declared the Inspector General of Forests in India, he helped the British government establish the Indian Forest Service in 1864. The following year, he assisted the colonial government in formulating the Indian Forest Act. In 1906, the Imperial Forest School, alternatively known as Imperial Forest Research Institute, was inaugurated in Dehradun. Incidentally, it was the first forestry school set up during colonial rule. The system taught here was scientific forestry.
