The above statement is true. “Vande Mataram” (song or hymn) was written in a highly Sanskritised Bengali (means in high-level Sanskrit language with Bengali) in 1870. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay wrote it. This poem was included in his famous book Anandmath published in 1882. Rabindranath Tagore first sang the hymn in 1896 in the session of the Indian national congress. At that time, It became a popular marching song for political activism, and the Indian freedom movement started in 1905. After the Independence of India on 24 January 1950, the constituent assembly adopted “Vande Mataram” as the national song of India.
