The Indian sepoys were unhappy about the seizage of Awadh region. The British used different ways to get the territory under the Indian rulers. The tools they used to do were hereditary policy, and subsidiary alliance and mis-administration. In the case of Awadh, the British Governor-General Dalhousie annexed Awadh based on misadministration. He justified it by pointing to the internal crisis, political instability, and overall misadministration of the state. Thus, the sepoys were unhappy with this annexation as they did not want to be ruled under the British.
