They also valued preserving an "ideal" social order based exclusively on gender disparities and birthright. Sultan Iltutmish's daughter, Raziyya, ascended to the throne in 1236. Minhaj-i Siraj, the era's chronicler during Raziyya's reign, acknowledged that the lady Sultan was more qualified and capable than all of her brothers. He was, however, dissatisfied with the thought of a queen ruling over them. Furthermore, the nobles were unable to accept her aspirations to rule independently. As a result, Raziyya was deposed from the kingdom in 1240.
