Detailed Solution

The above statement is True.
Article 14 of the Indian Constitution guarantees the Indian citizens equality before the law and equal protection of the law. Article 15 elaborates on the feature of non-discrimination. It states that every citizen, irrespective of their caste, creed, gender, religion, economic status, race, skin colour, or place of their living, should be treated equally in the eyes of the law. However, Article 16 says that nothing can prevent the government from practicing protective discrimination, reserving seats for marginalized groups like Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and women in government offices and educational institutions. Article 17 abolishes untouchability and states that anybody practising this will be punished under the law.
