Picket was a form of demonstration or protest by which people block the entrance to a shop, factory or office. Picket was one of the activities that nationalists used against the British. During the Non-cooperation movement and salt satyagraha, a large number of pickets took place. The nationalists picketed foreign liquor shops, and foreign goods and foreign cloth were boycotted and burned. Many women from high-class families and rich peasant families participated in the pickets and even went to jail. All these pickets caused economic and political instability in the British administration.
