BH3  and B2H6 both are electron deficient molecule

Back bonding does not take place in BH3 because H does not have a lone pair of electrons. In other words, boron's electron shortage persists and BH3 is not present. When there is an electron shortage, BH3 dimerizes to generate B2H6. Hence boron hydride exists in dimeric form and known as diborane.
