A plalindromic sequence recognized by a restriction enzyme can be recognized by another restriction enzyme and such enzymes are isoschizomers or neoschizomers. The first half of a palindromic sequence is complementary to the next half. Eg. GAA is complementary to TTC. Some restriction enzymes like Hind II can form blunt ends in the DNA fragments formed by digestion. A restriction enzyme name has either 3 letters or 4 letters and a roman numerical. The fist letter is upper case letter indicates the generic name and italicized, the second and third letters together indicate the species name which also be italicized. The fourth letter if present indicates the strain name.
