The NW-1 is the longest waterway covering a length of 1620 km and connecting the cities of Allahabad and Haldia. NW-2 on the Brahmaputra river covers a distance of 891 km between Sadiya and Dhubri. It is also one of the major freight transportation routes for the North Eastern region of India. NW-3 on the west coast canal in Kerala covers a distance of 205 km. The NW3 is considered the West Coast Canal, Champakara Canal, and Udyogamandal Canal and goes through Kottappuram, Cherthala, Thrikkunnapuzha, Kollam, and Alappuzha. Finally, NW-4 covers a total length of 1078 km, consisting of Kakinada-Puducherry canal systems integrated with the Godavari and Krishna ivers.
