According to Amir Khusrau, India has many languages. Every region has its language. However, Sanskrit does not belong to any particular region. It is a very old language. It is a literary language. Ordinary people are unaware of this. He praised Sanskrit, calling it a "pearl among pearls." The Brahmins were a well-educated class. They are the most powerful people in society. They are individuals who have studied Sanskrit. Khusrau began his professional writing career at twenty when he began composing verses praising his patrons. Khusrau was a nobleman and poet at the court for the next fifty years until he died in 1325, first at the court of other lower nobles and princes, then later. From Delhi, he is permanently at the king's court. He has survived the political intrigues of various factions and individuals at work in Delhi and elsewhere after serving and witnessing the rule of several others.
