India’s first oil mill was established in 1866 by the Britishers, and in 1901, the first commercial oil digging was started at Digboi in Assam. Following that, in Assam alone, there are majorly three refineries established. Therefore, from this point, it is clear that Assam is the oldest oil-producing state in India.
