In the 19th century, Europeans invaded Africa due to its vast resources. They started plantations and mines to produce crops and minerals for export. But the problem encountered by them was the shortage of labour. They used every means to force people to take up the job of Plantation workers. For that, they imposed a heavy tax, which only plantation workers would be able to pay. They changed the inheritance law making only one member the sole owner and forcing others to enter the labour market. Indentured labourers were hired through a contract with the help of an agent who gave these poor people false information making them accept the contract. These workers were confined in the mine or plantations they were working and not allowed to move freely.
