Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
Because of the numerous majoritarian actions taken by Sri Lanka's democratically elected government to establish Sinhala Supremacy following its independence in 1948, the concept of majoritarianism has exacerbated the already intense emotions of alienation felt by Tamils in Sri Lanka. Tamil was ignored as an Act to recognise Sinhala as the official language was approved in 1956. For government posts and academic positions, the government adopted preferential hiring practices favouring Sinhala applicants. Tamils in Sri Lanka believed that none of the major political parties run by Buddhist politicians was considerate of their language and culture. As a result, tensions between the Tamil and Sinhala communities grew over time, and a Civil War eventually broke out.
