People were dissatisfied with British rule. When the British arrived in India they conquered many territories and kingdoms in India. They introduced many laws and administrative institutions which led to the change in the lives of patients and tribals. There were also educational changes in the 19th century. The caste system also faced many challenges during the time. There was a decline in indigenous crafts and the growth of foreign industries. The people were not satisfied with working as slaves under a foreign rule. In the 1870s and 1880s, the dissatisfaction increased. In 1878 the British introduced the arms act which prevented the Indians from possessing arms and the Vernacular Press Act was also passed during the same time. It was introduced to mute the people who were against the government. Due to these causes, there was a huge dissatisfaction among the people.
