The native population of South Africa was termed as 'black', whereas the colonial rulers were 'white'. The colonial government took different measures which oppressed the native population and took away nearly every opportunity for their progress from their hands. They were subjected to endless torture, including physical and emotional abuse. The laws made by the government always favoured the whites. And whites were allowed to do anything, to work anywhere, and were provided with the best facilities. In contrast, the native population was given only the essential resources to survive.
