The architecture of the Sultanate Period manifested the aesthetic heritage of new sultans, which included both religious and secular structures, i.e. Indo-Islamic architecture. The Delhi Sultanate used local stones, mostly from the nearby Aravalis. The Delhi Sultanate buildings are less ornate when compared to the Mughals.
