The Rajput clan rose to prominence in Indian history between the seventh and the twelfth centuries AD. Between the 7th and the 11th centuries, several Rajput dynasties emerged. Around 700 AD, Rajput clans began to arise and rule over various regions of Rajasthan. Rajasthan had previously been a part of various republics. The Malavas, Arjunyas, Yaudhyas, Kushans, Saka Satraps, Guptas, and Hunas were other important republics that ruled this area. Between 750 and 1000 AD, the Pratihars controlled most of northern India, including Rajasthan. Rajasthan saw the Chalukyas, Parmars, and Chauhans contend for control between 1000 and 1200 AD.
