Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
Since gaining its independence, India has strived toward food grain self-sufficiency. Indian policymakers adopted all means to achieve food grain self-sufficiency after the country attained independence. India changed its approach to farming, which led to the "Green Revolution,", particularly in the production of rice and wheat. In July 1968, Indira Gandhi, the country's prime minister, issued a commemorative stamp titled "Wheat Revolution" to commemorate the remarkable agricultural advancements made possible by the Green Revolution. Later, rice was able to duplicate the success of wheat. However, the rise in food grains was excessive. In Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, foodgrain output peaked at 78.9 million tonnes in 2012–13.
