Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
Industrial production in India increased during the First World War. During this period,  British mills were kept extremely busy meeting the requirements of the war effort. And imports from Manchester decreased, which meant that Indian mills suddenly had a large domestic market to supply. India's rate of industrialisation was low till then. Because of this, the imports to India from Manchester saw a significant drop. Therefore the mills in India were able to make and sell cloth for the country's large domestic market. It was a fantastic chance for Indian businesses to sell their goods in markets across the country that were previously unoccupied. As a result, the number of goods manufactured in India's factories increased.
