Detailed Solution

The above statement is false.
Coarse grains are a broad sub-group of several short-duration warm weather Kharif crops like Jowar, Bajra, Maize, Ragi, etc. With its diversified agricultural assets in terms of soil, rainfall and climate, India has abundant crop diversity. During drought conditions, it helps to generate employment in low rainfall areas like Rajasthan, where other alternative crops are limited. As an assured source of income, these coarse cereals offer an improved role during distress environment conditions. These crops are grown in areas with slightly high temperatures and are called dryland crops because they can be grown in areas with fifty to a hundred centimetres of rainfall. Coarse grains are less sensitive to soil deficiencies and grow in an inferior loamy soil.
The correct statement is “Pulses are not a type of coarse grains”.
