Detailed Solution

The given statement is True.
Three styles of temple architecture are common in India. The Nagara style is found in the north, the Dravidian style is prevalent in the south, and Vesara is a fusion of the Nagara and Dravidian styles. Dravidian architecture appeared in South India as early as the seventh century. However, it reached its current form in the sixteenth century. A compound wall encloses most Dravidian temples, characterised by a Gopuram, which refers to the entrance gateway in the front wall. In addition, they feature a stepped pyramid, which rises geometrically, unlike the curving shikhara seen in North Indian temples. The Rajarajeshvara temple at Thanjavur is a famous example of magnificent Dravidian temple architecture.
