Detailed Solution

The given statement is False.
The Rajarajeshvara temple at Thanjavur boasted the tallest shikhara amongst temples of its time. King Rajarajadeva built it to honour Lord Shiva. The temple was considered a model of a world that mortals ruled. The statue of God in the temple represented the king on the throne, and the idols of lesser deities and goddesses symbolised the king’s allies in court. Worshipping deities in royal temples was juxtaposed with the idea of gods bringing selective men to the forefront to rule the earth. The temple featured a shikhara twice as high as the Kandariya Mahadeva temple. The shikhara of Rajarajeshvara temple is more than 62 metres high, whereas that of the Kandariya Mahadeva temple is only 31 metres high.
The correct statement is that the Rajarajeshvara temple at Thanjavur had the tallest shikhara amongst temples of its time.
