According to author Wilhelm Wolff, a significant contingent of weavers reportedly showed up at the contractor's house and demanded more remuneration for their labour. Some mob broke into the contractor's house and set fire to the furniture, window panes, and other valuables since they weren't treated correctly. The contractor and his family escaped to a nearby hamlet, but no one took them in. After a 24-hour hiatus, he returned with the troops and killed eleven weavers.
