The above statement is true. Indians were outraged by the Rowlatt Act. In 1919, Mahatma Gandhi launched the Satyagraha Movement against Rowlatt Act. The law gave the government enormous power to curb political activity, allowing political prisoners to be imprisoned without a trial. The British government decided to break down nationalists by witnessing public objection. As a result, the Rowlatt Act was rushed to pass by the Imperial Legislative Council, despite opposition from Indian members. It gave the government power to suppress political activity and political prisoners to be detained for two years without trial. That's why Indians were outraged by this act.
