Before inserting it into the gun, the cartridge was required to have its top bit off. As a result, the soldiers who were Hindu and Muslim were hesitant to use the Enfield weapon. Because for the Hindus, the cow was a sacred animal, and for the Muslims, the pig was a prohibited animal. This enraged the soldiers, and they rose in rebellion.
