The above statement is true. The Bolivia Water War was an incident that took place in the year 2000 in Bolivia, a poor country in Latin America. The war started after; forced by the World Bank, Bolivia sold the water supply rights to a Multinational Company (MNC). This led to a water crisis in the area due to hiked prices of a basic necessity: water. Protests were held, and people came upon roads in strike after strike. Martial law had to be implemented, but the fights continued. Later, the war ended when Bolivia’s government decided to take back the water supply rights.
