The above statement is false. Gyanendra became the new king of Nepal, but he did not favour democratic rule in the country. He preferred and wanted a complete monarchical set-up in the country, for which he took severe steps. The newly made King Gyanendra removed the democratically elected government which was in the country. Moreover, he dissolved the Parliament too. He took all powers into his hands as the country's supreme leader in February 2005. He does not at all want democracy. This angered the people, and a movement to restore democracy started in 2006.
