In India, the President acts like a nominal executive. The real power is vested in the council of ministers, which the prime minister heads.
The Constitution of India states that the President has to work on aid and advice of the board of ministers. The President can ask the Council of Ministers to reconsider their decision, but upon getting the same conclusion back, the President has to follow accordingly. The President can send the bill back and ask the Parliament to reconsider, but post such reconsideration, with or without amendment President has to sign the account.
