Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
According to Ernest Renan, a French philosopher, a nation is the creation of a series of struggles fought by its people.
The French philosopher Ernst Renan (1823-92), who spoke at the University of Sorbonne in 1882, provided an overview of his perspective on what constitutes a nation. The lecture was later turned into a famous essay titled "What is a Nation?"  According to Ernest Renan, a nation is the outcome of numerous struggles that its citizens have invested in. According to him, a heroic past is a defining keyword for a nation. Thus, the characteristics of a nation are a heroic past, widespread solidarity, and a common will. For him, the existence of nations ensures liberty, which would be lost if there was only one law and one master.
