Detailed Solution

The given statement is true.
The Indian sepoys faced many problems and discrimination in the army. They were not allowed to wear the sacred thread. An Indian sepoy was not paid equally as a British one. The sepoys were also not ready to go to Burma using the sea route, and they notified their disapproval. But they were severely punished, even though they had expressed their willingness to go through land routes. After this, the British government passed a new law in 1856 that every new person employed in the Company’s army had to agree to serve overseas if required. Travelling overseas was against their religious beliefs, leaving a profound mark on the mind of sepoys. Hence, Indian sepoys were not willing to go abroad.
