It also covered the Italian-speaking areas of Lombardy and Veneto. Throughout the Empire, various social groups spoke various languages and dialects. For instance, the nobles or aristocrats of Bohemia spoke German, whereas the regions of Lombardy and Venetia spoke Italian. In Galicia, Polish was the language of the nobility.
