Detailed Solution

The given statement is true.
British Kenya and German Tanganyika established an international border in 1885 that divided the Maasai country in half. The Maasai tribes were forced into a narrow area in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania and given an arid region with variable rainfall and low pastures because the finest pastures were allocated to white colonists. The British colonial authorities pushed the local peasant populations to increase their agricultural output in East Africa. As agriculture grew, pasturelands were converted to cultivable land. Large grazing lands were also converted into game reserves that pastoralists were forbidden from entering. The Maasai tribes lost over 60% of their livestock due to a shortage of suitable grazing areas and a two-year drought. As a result, the Maasai community lost its grazing areas.
