In the xylem sap much of the nitrogen is carried in organic form particularly in the form of amino acids and amides. Only small amount is carried in inorganic form. Much of the P and S are carried in inorganic form and only a little is carried in organic form. There is small exchange of materials between xylem and phloem. Phloem has small amounts of inorganic nutrients thought bulk of it has organic nutrients mainly sucrose.
