Mahatma Gandhi returned to India in January 1915 from South Africa, where he conducted a unique type of public protest known as Satyagraha to resist racial injustice. Without resorting to violence or seeking vengeance, a Satyagrahi might resolve the disagreement. It could be possible to achieve this by appealing to the oppressor's conscience. Mahatma Gandhi considered nonviolence to be dharma.
