Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
Masulipatnam, also known as Machlipatnam, was situated on the Krishna River's delta. In the seventeenth century, it was a swarm of activity. As a result, Masulipatnam became the most important port on the Andhra coast, with the Dutch and English East India companies vying for dominance. The Dutch erected Masulipatnam's fort. To keep commerce from becoming entirely controlled by the numerous East India companies, the Qutb Shahi rulers of Golconda set royal monopolies on selling textiles, spices, and other products. As a result, Masulipatnam lost merchants and prosperity as company traders went to Bombay, Calcutta (modern-day Kolkata), and Madras (modern-day Chennai) and collapsed over the eighteenth century, becoming nothing more than a rundown, tiny town.
