Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
Peasants refused to pay revenue and chowkidar taxes to support the Civil Disobedience Movement.
Mahatma Gandhi spearheaded the establishment of the Civil Disobedience Movement in 1930. It was a watershed moment in the history of Indian nationalism. The basic principle of the Civil Disobedience Movement was to oppose British-made laws. Three qualities distinguished this movement. First, the peasants did not pay the chowkidar or revenue taxes. The Chowkidar tax was a type of levy the state collected from farmers for village guards, who were essentially cops, impacting poor peasants. As a result of the Civil Disobedience Movement, peasants refused to pay this tax in 1930.
